Frequently asked questions
Everything about ordering made-to-order solid wood furniture from White's: timing, shipping, finishes, returns and care. Can't find your answer? Email support@whitesfinishedfurniturehardwood.com.
How long does a made-to-order piece take?
About 2-3 weeks to build - shaping and sanding, then photos of your actual piece for you to approve, then oiling and finishing - and another 3-7 business days in transit. Roughly 3-4 weeks door to door, with tracking by email.
Is shipping free?
Yes. Every order ships free to the contiguous United States. Large furniture is crated and delivered curbside by freight; smaller pieces ship by parcel.
What finish is on the wood?
A hand-rubbed oil and wax finish that soaks into the grain instead of sitting on top like a plastic coat. It can be refreshed at home with a soft cloth and a little furniture oil.
Can I see my piece before it is finished?
Yes. Before any oil goes on, we email photos of your actual piece. Finishing starts only after you approve it or ask for small adjustments.
Is it really solid wood?
Yes - solid hardwood throughout, with no veneer, MDF or particle board. Grain, knots and tone vary from piece to piece because every board is different.
Can I return a made-to-order piece?
You can change or cancel within 24 hours of ordering for a full refund. After that, made-to-order furniture is final sale, but anything that arrives damaged, defective or wrong is repaired, replaced or refunded at no cost to you.
Can I order a custom size or finish?
Often, yes. Email support@whitesfinishedfurniturehardwood.com with the piece and the dimensions or tone you want and we will reply with a quote before you order.
How do I care for an oiled wood finish?
Dust with a dry soft cloth, wipe spills right away, use coasters for hot or wet items, keep the piece out of direct sun and away from heaters, and re-oil once or twice a year.
Where are you located?
